About the IMERC Campus
The IMERC Campus is under development in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, 20 minutes by car west of Cork City Centre. It's development will build on the capabilities of the National Maritime College of Ireland and the Irish Naval Service through co-location and shared services.
Phase 1 of the Campus development delivered UCC's National Beaufort Laboratory, opened in 2015.
Plans for Phase 2 of the Campus development aims for an extended maritime and energy science and commercial park on the adjacent Port of Cork land. This will be led by the Industrial Development Authority (IDA). Proposals for Enterprise Ireland incubator units will cater for start up and spin out companies.
Industry suites will be available to clients who will benefit from the co-location via access to shared services and facilities available from the Imerc partners in UCC, CIT and the Naval Service.
The delivery of the IMERC Campus is overseen by a governance structure with representatives at the highest level from the IMERC core partners sitting on the IMERC governing authority.
The IMERC Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) provides for all of the governance arrangements agreed between the core partners.
This is complemented by representatives of key statutory bodies, such as the Industrial Development Authority, Enterprise Ireland and Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland, who sit on the IMERC executive board.
